{reading moment of the week}

Me and my boy in a Waterstones in London reading Hello Tilly by Polly Dunbar. Popping into a library or bookshop when you’re out and about with a toddler is always a welcome relief for everyone. Milo loves Where’s Tumpty in this series and we had to read Hello Tilly twice before leaving.

I don’t need to tell you that the illustrations are beautiful. What I truly love about Polly Dunbar’s artwork is her ability to use colour without it being so bright, primary and glaringly “for a child” (which of course has its place), that it’s ultimately very relaxing when you very much need it to be.

    I love how you and Milo’s nana both have the same “reading mouth” in the photos – all the photos of me and my girls are the same – slightly pursed mouth!

      I never noticed that before. We do! I don’t know which bit of the book we were reading to cause that expression but I have a feeling it’s one I do often! He really likes the Tilly and Friends books. They are very gentle as is my little boy (sometimes!).
