Barack Obama reading Where the Wild Things Are

There has been a lot of tweeting and blog posting about this recently so I am sort of jumping on the bandwagon a little late, but it is important and so refreshing that I thought it was worthwhile. It also ties in with another post I wrote the other day and something I am planning to write, but I’ll get to that later.

Jen posted a while ago about Barack Obama reading Maurice Sendak’s Where the Wild Things Are at the annual White House Easter Egg Roll. I don’t remember seeing this in the coverage of the Easter Egg Roll in the UK so maybe it didn’t reach us over here, but good to see anyway.

Where the Wild Things Are

Amy tweeted yesterday (via BookDads and Teaching Books) this really good article from the Seattle Book Examiner on the read aloud tips that can be taken from President Obama’s reading. The video content is on there, as well as on Jen’s post and it really is worth watching and perhaps even showing to a little one! Enjoy!
