Happy Birthday Hungry Caterpillar

I’m loving the google ident today!

Google hungry caterpillarToday is the  official launch day of the 40th anniversary of  The Very Hungry Caterpillar. Puffin have lots of fun things to help everyone celebrate this happy event, so check out their website for details of upcoming events and festival celebrations as well as a great activity pack to download.

Milo and I will celebrate here at home. We have the board book version which I am sure that Milo will today join in with the caterpillar and have a quick munch on it!

He also has a great Very Hungry Caterpillar money jar from his auntie Emma and uncle Chris. Perhaps we will find a few pennies to pop in that today also.

Milo's hungry caterpillar bits and bobs

It is predominantly funded by the money Milo’s dad leaves in his trouser pockets before they go in the wash! Pretty soon we’ll be able to afford a trip to our local bookshop!

  1. One of my students (I teach high school) noticed the Google image on the search page and got so excited she had to call me over and point it out. She sat back with a sigh and said, “I loved that book.” It was fun to see her light up at the memory. Good job, Google, for recognizing this book on its birthday, eh? Thanks for posting on it too!

It’s great to hear people’s memories of their childhood books, especially when they are sparked by something so simple as a google ident – it must have had a big impact on her. I imagine the google ident was a collaboration between google and Puffin for the celebration, but I think it is great how much effort and marketing spend Puffin are putting into celebrating this brilliant book! Thanks for your comment.
