Here’s Milo!

Yoda Milo

Our baby boy was born on Friday 7th November at 11.40, weighing in at 7lb 90z. We are particularly looking forward to watching him learn to love and enjoy books of all kinds. Both of us read loads and with our quite different tastes and my interest in children’s books Milo already has a pretty big library of titles to get through – I hope he’ll never be bored with the books available to him in his home.

It’s a little early for him to be looking at anything too complicated, but we have got him some black and white books to stimulate him in these early months. We’ve chosen Faces by John Fordham and the Art for Baby book and of course he has all of the lovely Walker board books to get through as well.

I’m hoping Milo will remember to a certain extent the books we read to him whilst he was in my tummy, or at least the tone of our voices. We still read We’re Going on a Bear Hunt (Michael Rosen and Helen Oxenbury), Where the Wild Things Are (Maurice Sendak), Penguin (Polly Dunbar) and others whilst he is feeding or having a bit of a chilled out moment (quite rare!). I’ll keep you posted on how it goes and what he’s enjoying.

He is so cute! I just wanted to say that Maurice Sendak is great, and Milo will appreciate his books. Too Shy to Stop writer Ariela Rose just did a piece about the Sendak exhibit in Philadelphia for our magazine. You can read the article here.

  2. I love We’re Going on a Bear Hunt. Do you know Jamberry, by Bruce Degen? It was one of my kids’ favourites.
